Embrangledscape (2025)
This work is an interdisciplinary collaboration between Boston-based installation artist Debra Weisberg and choreographer and dancer Paula Higa. Weisberg's abstract creations, inspired by growth and movement themes like root systems and lava flows, are complemented by Higa's improvisational performance. Weisberg blends her visceral homage to the unstoppable growth of living forms, while Higa's quiet meditation and ephemeral experience navigate the intricacies of the artwork.

Aquela Que Eu Queria Ser (2021) - The One I Wanted To Be (film version)
The film "Aquela Que Eu Queria Ser" is inspired by the feminist poetry of Portuguese poet Florbela Espanca. It explores themes related to feminine identity and the struggles women face within a patriarchal society. The project delves into subjects like gender-based aggression and the roles of women, reflecting Higa's research focus on feminine studies. Through dance and visual storytelling, the film aims to convey the emotional depth and complexity of Espanca's work, particularly her poem "Caravelas." The collaborative effort also highlights different interpretations and expressions of the choreography, showcasing its relevance across various cultural contexts.
Encounters (2017)
An improvisation ensemble in which two musicians and one dancer meet to perform without a predetermined score. The trio is formed by the trumpeter Arthur Brooks, the double bass player Anthony Santor, and the dancer Paula Higa.
